What if I’m traveling and leaving my house?
It is preferable for the owner to check the house, prior to his departure. If this is not possible, then a Shliach (representative) should be appointed, who will carry out the Bedika (search for Chametz) at the correct time on behalf of the owner. A second solution is to clean and check one room and ‘sell’ the remainder of the house to a non-Jew.

I’m going to a hotel for Pesach, do I check my hotel room for Chametz?
Yes, you should check the hotel room, just like you would with your own house, by placing 10 pieces of bread, prior to checking of the hotel room.

I’m traveling to my friend’s house, do I need to do Bedikat Chametz?
You may rely on the owner, and therefore no Bedikat Chametz is required. If the owner is present,
please check with him if the home was checked.

I’m renting my house out, should I do Bedikat Chametz before I leave?
Provided the house is rented to another Jewish individual who receives the keys prior to the eve of
the 14th of Nisan, it is then the renter’s obligation to perform Bedikat Chametz.

Do I perform Bedikat Chametz in my office and/or car?
One is obligated to do Bedikat Chametz in the car and your work place.

As there are different customs concerning traveling, one should consult their Rabbi with any questions.
